Some Blog SEO Tips
For this post we are not going to provide much in the way of new content, instead we are going to point you in the direction of two excellent links for blog SEO.
The first link comes from the blog over at BuzzBlogger.com and their post, “The Most Overlooked Link Building Strategy”. The post links to a 16 minute video on search engine optimization. This video starts out talking about general SEO as well as SEO for e-commerce sites but by the end transitions and then applies the information to blog SEO.
This is really one of the top Blog SEO videos we have come across, so we would highly recommend you check it out. Some specific areas to focus on are bread crumb navigation as well as the benefits of making your archive and tag pages no-follow for the search engines.
I realize that making changes like this might sound intimidating but there’s little need to worry since there are several WordPress Plug-ins that will help you make many of these changes. These plug-ins are mentioned in the video itself, and links for them appear below the video as it plays.
The second post we recommend is “SEO WordPress Blog Tips” from The Blog About Everything. In particular I’d like to highlight a few points they’ve made. The first of which is to use good keyword rich alt-tags for images.
In addition to careful selection of the alt-tags for your images, also consider putting the same care in naming these images, since most likely the search engines are going to take both of these factors into account.
Also be careful when using desktop based blog publishing software. Often such software lengthens the path location to where the images are stored on your site. For example on this site when we manually upload images to our hosting account, the path is usually.

Once software package that we use creates the following alternative path…

Remember that search engines usually consider keyword relevance in URL paths with a bias from left to right. So the theory is, the further to the right your keyword appears the less juice it sends.
Additionally the Blog About Everything’s post has a quite a few links to SEO related WordPress Plug-Ins which are worth checking out.
As much as I like The Blog About Everything’s Post, we don’t agree with all their suggestions. For example on this site we use H2 tags for our post titles instead of H1. We find that the size of H1 text looks a little over sized from a design point of view. Regardless though their post has lots of good info to digest.

I feel the same way too! If all bloggers started using h1 tags in their blogs, their blogs would look like a clutter. I have already come across all other points.
As regards the video, it was brilliant! Thanks a bunch for sharing it!
